Accusing the police of “soft- pedalling” the investigation into the clash between its volunteers and BJP supporters, Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday demanded the arrest of those who were involved in what it alleged was a “premeditated attack” on its workers.AAP said it will “expose” BJP’s South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and is collecting evidence against his relatives whom the party alleged were involved in the attack. The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has accused BJP workers and Bidhuri’s family members of engineering the attack on its volunteers and torching a car belonging to one of its Assembly poll candidates.”More than 24 hours after AAP volunteers were attacked with sharp weapons in broad daylight, all of which is video recorded, police is trying to soft pedal the investigation. The culprits named in the statements of injured party (AAP) volunteers should be immediately arrested for having committed the offence of attempt to murder.”The party is in the process of collecting foolproof evidence of direct involvement of Bidhuri’s family members in the premeditated attack on AAP volunteers and this will be made public on Monday to expose the real character and intentions of BJP,” the party said in a statement.A vehicle belonging to AAP’s Tughlakabad candidate Sahi Ram was on Saturday set ablaze and at least 12 people injured in a clash between AAP and BJP supporters during a shoot for a TV news debate in which leaders of the two parties got into a heated argument.Lashing out at Delhi Police, AAP charged that the cops were giving the whole case a wrong twist. “Police have already tried to give a wrong twist to the entire incident by calling a premeditated attack a clash. Its image is at stake when BJP is trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Delhi ahead of Assembly elections,” the party said.
