The only witness in the murder of former MLA Bharat Singh, was shot dead at by unidentified armed assailants in outer Delhi’s Japanese Park, Sector 12, Outer Delhi’s Rohini subcity area. According to the police, the incident took place at around 7:20pm on Tuesday evening when the driver Vipin was travelling on his motor cycle. A group of men came in their I-20 car and started shooting at Vipin. The driver, according to police, received six bullets wounds in the process.The official further said that he was taken to BJRM hospital in a critical condition and succumbed to injuries before Police Commissioner B S Bassi reached the hospital.A case has been registered under section 302 at Prashant Vihar police station against unidentified men. Bharat Singh was a former INLD legislator who was shot dead in March this year when he was attending a religious function in West Delhi’s Najafgarh area. Singh was attacked by over six armed men who had reached the spot in a SUV, the person including including the alleged mastermind, identified as one Udaiveer alias Kaale, and Nitin Sherawat, the son of a former Delhi MLA, were arrested by Crime Branch. Singh was the younger brother of local strongman Kishen Pehalwan, who has more than two dozen criminal cases registered against him.In 2012, Singh escaped narrowly by hiding in the bathroom when eight gunmen shot at him in his office. He had received three of the 54 shots fired at him but he survived to tell the tale after spending nearly two months in a hospital and losing a kidney.
