Actress and BJP MP from Mathura Hema Malini on Thursday was injured in a car accident at Rajasthan’s Dausa district, around 55 km from Jaipur. She has been rushed to the Fortis hospital in Jaipur.
Malini received head injuries when her Mercedes collided with an Alto car. According to reports, a five-year-old girl has died in the accident. There were five occupants in the Alto car – two women, two children and a man, a Dausa district official said, according to PTI. The people in the Alto car are reportedly seriously injured.
Two of the injured were admitted to SMS hospital in Jaipur while two are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dausa.
TV footage showed Hema Malini bleeding on the forehead area above the right eye.
Malini was proceeding to Jaipur from Mathura in her Mercedes Benz while the other vehicle was proceeding to Lalsoth from Jaipur.
The 66-year-old actress received a stitch on her head and is reported to be fine, according to her close aide. Doctors at the Fortis hospital said she suffered injuries on the forehead and a CT scan and other tests were being conducted.
“The accident occurred on national highway 11 near Dausa Midway at around 9 pm when the car in which Hema Malini was travelling collided with another car. One five-year old was killed who was in the other car. Four others who were injured in the accident have been admitted in Dausa hospital,” a police official told IANS on phone.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje tweeted on the incident, saying that the Rajasthan government was “making all efforts to provide immediate relief and medical care”.
