Maha approves botanical garden in Chandrapur

To take some positive measures in the backdrop of global warming, the Maharashtra government has decided to develop a botanical garden in Chandrapur, where several varieties and species will be kept as a treasure for the next generation. Maharashtra government has approved the project and Rs18 crore fund has been sanctioned for the purpose.According to a senior government official, the decision has been inspired by the Bangalore botanical garden. “We have decided to develop the proposed botanical garden on the lines of the Bangalore botanical garden. The garden is located at an ideal topographical location, where a collection of tropical plants and species of birds will be kept and nurtured,” he said.He added, “The drought has been a major and regular phenomena. Most parts of the world are facing a severe drought and floods. The temperature has been soaring by the day. This drastic climate change has affected our lifestyle. It is the need of the hour to develop the botanical garden to maintain the balance,” said the official. As per the government forest department notification, Chandrapur is the one of the rich regions in terms of plants. “This natural treasure has to be preserved and maintained for the next generation. The rare species of plants are vanishing. So it is the need of the hour to preserve the remaining tropical plants. The animal species and plants are complimentary to each other, so the government has decided to develop the botanical garden, which will be converted into a tourist spot,” stated the notification.Taking a leaf out of Bangalore bookThe Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore was originally commissioned by Mysore ruler Hyder Ali and finished by his son Tipu Sultan. It has a famous Glass House, which hosts an annual flower show. Lalbagh houses India’s largest collection of tropical plants, has a lake, and is one of the main tourist attractions in Bangalore. It is also a home to a few bird species. The commonly sighted birds include myna, parakeets, crows, brahmini kite, pond heron, common egret and purple moor hen.<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>

BJP loses 7 out of 10 urban bodies to the Congress in Chattisgarh

In nagar panchayats, Congress’ Foharabai Meri won from Maro, Mausam Jaya from Konta and Kameshwar Gautam from Bhopalpatanam. BJP won from only three nagar panchayats of Bhairmgarh (Bijapur district), Narharpur (Kanker) and Premnagar (Surajpur) with Dasrath Sarbuliya, Bhopesh Netam and Dularbai Shandilya defeating their rivals on these seats, respectively. The party has won 88 out of 121 wards in ten urban bodies (as counting of votes is underway in Bhilai), followed by the Congress (62) and independents (21). The victory came as a relief for the Congress which lost the Mayoral post to the BJP in Birgaon municipal corporation poll held last month.

The Centre, Lekhi said, had given an additional fund of Rs 1200 crore to the Delhi government for sewage treatment but nothing has been done so far. AAP has also done nothing on its promise of ‘swaraj’, she said, noting that adequate funds were not being given to local bodies. Instead the AAP government was using Delhi’s resources for political purposes, she said, referring to its publicity budget of Rs 526 crore.

China, India dealt with border differences properly: PLA

Both sides this year have focussed their dialogue on frequent “incursions” by the Chinese troops specially in the Ladakh sector, which caused tensions at the borders. Two of such incursions happened during the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to India in 2013 and President Xi Jinping in 2014. On both the occasions, the prolonged standoffs were resolved through hectic parlays at high levels.

Almost 53% Delhiites feel okay with undergoing cosmetic surgery to improve looks

From smoothening the skin and erasing wrinkles to getting a sculpted physique or a slim waist, the desire to look like a magazine cover model is not just a teenage whim anymore.A recent study, Cosmetic Plastic Surgery and Consciousness of Appearance Survey-2015, has revealed a growing aspiration amongst residents of Delhi-NCR across all age groups to look their sharpest. While 41% of the women surveyed believe that cosmetic surgery is the most effective way to reshape the body, the men were not behind as 37 % of them agreed it was so.Also, 47% of the women and 42 % of the men who took part in the survey believe that plastic surgery helps attract potential partners. As many as 52 % of the women respondents felt that plastic surgery helps increase professional opportunities while among men, 37 % believed so.The survey, which was conducted online from October 10 to 24, covered 709 people (193 men and 516 women) aged 25 years and older, including employed professionals, housewives, students and retired professionals. While 51.7 % of the respondents agreed or somewhat agreed that there has been a shift in the attitude of Indians towards plastic surgery, 50 % of them said that they would consider going for plastic surgery in the future.More than half of those who took part in the survey, 53 %, believe that spending money on improving one’s appearance is an investment. The report was released by the Department of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital here.”Cosmetic surgery has existed in India for more than four decades now, but Indians continued to refer to it in hush-hush tones. “53 % of the people surveyed view cosmetic surgery as an investment. This is definite proof that people are now looking at plastic surgery as a valid scientific means of improving appearance,” said Dr Sunil Choudhary, Director, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the hospital, who had conducted the survey.<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>

Nepal’s KP Oli calls up PM Modi; discusses political situation in Nepal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasised the importance of finding a durable solution based on consensus to Nepal’s political problems during a telephonic conversation with his Nepalese counterpart K P Oli.Oli called up Modi and briefed him on the political developments in his country, days after the Nepalese Cabinet decided to amend the Constitution to address keys demands of Madhesis, largely of Indian-origin, from the country’s Terai region over proportional representation and constituency delimitation.”Prime Minister emphasised the importance of finding a durable solution to the political problems facing Nepal based on consensus or ‘sahmati’,” an External Affairs Ministry release in New Delhi said, adding that Oli “briefed him on the political developments in Nepal”.According to the Nepalese premier’s press advisor Pramod Dahal, during the 20-minute conversation, Modi invited Oli to visit India. Oli accepted the invitation and said he will pay an official visit to India soon after the situation is normalised, Dahal said.Modi also extended his good wishes to the friendly people of Nepal for the New Year 2016. Oli would visit India before undertaking his trip to China, which was earlier supposed to be his maiden visit overseas, sources in the Nepal government said. The Nepalese Prime Minister extended thanks to Modi for welcoming Nepal government’s move to forward a Bill in the Parliament for amending the Constitution to address the demands raised by the agitating Madhesi Front.During the talk, the two leaders also discussed matters relating to improving relations between Nepal and India, Dahal said. Oli said he wanted to see Nepal-India relations move towards a positive direction while also drawing Modi’s attention towards the obstructions prevailing in the Nepal- India border check-points, according to Dahal. He requested Modi to make arrangements for smoothening the Raxaul-Birgunj check-point, the major trading point between the two countries. In response, Modi said he was always in favour of easing Indo-Nepal border trading points and asserted that India was not creating any obstructions in the movement in the border checkpoint, Oli’s Press Advisor added.Modi told Oli that all the border points except the Raxaul-Birgunj check-point are operating in a normal way and the obstructions were created in the Raxaul-Birgunj point due to continued protests by the agitating Madhesi parties, according to Dahal.Modi also recalled that he had instructed the External Affairs Minister to ensure that medicines reach Nepal through airlifting to avoid their scarcity due to agitations there. The two Prime Ministers also discussed issues relating to bilateral interest on the occasion. <!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>
