The District Sessions Court dismissed the plea after police submitted that the probe in the case was not yet over and the accused was likely to jump bail.

Police also informed the court about the progress of the probe.

Last month, the Kunnamkulam First Class Judicial Magistrate court had rejected his bail application.

Nisham, who has been taken to Bengaluru in connection with a probe into another case, is expected to be brought back to Kerala in a day or two.

Nisham had allegedly in an inebriated state, assaulted the security guard, Chandra Bose, and later rammed him with his Hummer vehicle, following an argument over delay in opening the gate at a posh residential township, on 29 January.

The incident had evoked widespread protests in the state and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visited the victim at the hospital while he was under treatment and had assured his family that a speedy probe would be conducted. Chandra Bose succumbed to his injuries on 16 February.
