A team of officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and ATS of Jharkhand state police on Tuesday arrested a person accused of being a senior leader of Jamaat Ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) an organisation officially banned by the government of Bangladesh in 2005. JMB has been accused of being involved. The accused, identified as Tarikul Islam, is said to be a resident of Sapai Nawabganj district, Raj Sahi division in Bangdesh. He had been living in West Bengal after getting married to a girl hailing from Jharkhand Sahebganj area. He was a key trainer in the terrorist training camps organised by JMB in India and he used to report to Sajid (since arrested in the case) of JMB about his activities. “NIA had submitted a charge sheet against Sadik on July 23, 2015 as an absconder for his involvement in the terrorist conspiracy. He had been absconding since the Burdwan blast on 2nd October, 2014 and carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh declared by NIA for any information leading to his arrest,” said a NIA spokesperson.In October last, a JMB module was busted in Bengal following a blast at an inconspicuous house in Burdwan district in which one person Sakil Gazi died on the spot and another person Sovan Mandal succumbed in hospital. Both of them were suspected to have terror links. NIA later found that the actual identity of Mondal was Karim Sheikh and he had misled West Bengal police about his identity.The probe agency has filed a charge sheet in Bardhaman blast case in March this year against 21 people in which the agency had claimed that JMB wanted to establish Sharia rule in Bangladesh.
