Security forces foiled a major terror attack on Wednesday when they killed two militants who were trying to enter the summer capital city of Srinagar from south Kashmir to carry out their nefarious designs. Our road opening party was withdrawing when militants on board a vehicle lobbed a grenade and fired upon the troopers. In the ensuing gun fight two militants were killed,” said Ashish Kumar Jha, CRPF spokesman at Srinagar.Two CRPF men of 23 battalion received gunshot wounds and have been shifted to hospital for treatment. The injured have identified as Iqbal Lone from Baramulla and Parvinder from Uttar Pradesh.”The slain ultras were trying to enter Srinagar. They might have been upto something. But the CRPF and SOG were able to foil their nefarious designs,” said Jha.The incident occurred just 24 hours after CRPF foiled a major fidayeen attack on their convoy near Sinthan Chowk on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Anantnag district. Six CRPF troopers were injured in the incident.
