“I was upset with Rahul Gandhi who always promised to bring honest and young people and qualitative change in the polity of India. Unfortunately, he compromised on his own principles and ideology by forming new Punjab Congress team including Amarinder Singh, Ambika Soni and Lal Singh just to win polls in Punjab,” Khaira said.

Jaitley has also accused AAP govt and its supporters of lowering level of public discourse in the country

Arun Jaitley

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has launched a scathing attack on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for using unparliamentary language against PM Modi. In a Facebook post, Jaitley said that, “People in positions are expected to act with restraint. They cannot be outlandish.Vulgarity is not a right available to them. The political discourse cannot be couched in vulgar language. Falsehood delivered with vulgar overtones is not a substitute of truth. Lumpenisation of public discourse can never be high point of politics. “<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Jaitley has also accused AAP govt and its supporters of lowering level of public discourse in the country. Jaitley’s attack comes at a time, when AAP has alleged him of being involved in DDCA scam and has even constituted an enquiry committee to probe the matter. BJP MP Kirti Azad has been suspended from the party for his harsh comments about Arun Jaitley. Jaitley believes that now Congress is also ‘misled’ in believing that politics of vulgarity will bring votes. Jaitley in his post has also hit out at Congress for paralysing Rajya Sabha. According to Jaitley, the tradition of Standing Committee will be hurt in recent times. Jaitley alleges that the current generation of Congress leaders are weakening legacy set up by their ancestors. Two days after the cricketer-turned-politician took on Jaitley on the floor of Lok Sabha, the BJP issued a one-line statement saying Azad was being suspended with immediate effect for “änti-party” activities.

Finally, the BJP has wielded the disciplinary rod suspending its MP Kirti Azad from the party’s primary membership after he publicly targeted finance minister Arun Jaitley while making corruption allegations in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). Two days after the cricketer-turned-politician took on Jaitley on the floor of Lok Sabha, the BJP issued a one-line statement saying Azad was being suspended with immediate effect for “änti-party” activities. Party President Amit Shah issued a suspension order, at the end of a tumultuous winter session which witnessed a government-opposition standoff on various issues. The action was taken after consultations among the party’s parliamentary board.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –> “You have made several statements in the media which constitute anti-party activities and such unfounded statements and allegations were clearly intended to bring disrepute to the party and its office bearers. Your actions have also resulted in lowering the pressure of the party and its office bearers. You have deliberately embarrassed the party and its office bearers by raising these in public domain. You have acted and carried on propaganda against the decisions of the party,” Shah said in the suspension order. While Azad was not issued a show cause notice, the suspension order said he colluded with opposition parties, the Congress and AAP,. The order said he had defied party discipline inside and outside Parliament. The party dubbed his allegations as false propaganda and said the parliamentary board has suspended him from the party membership.Pressure was mounting on the BJP, which had refrained from taking any action or even reprimanding the MP, who on Sunday had gone ahead with his press conference defying the party on corruption in DDCA, which Jaitley had headed for 13 years. Azad took his battle with the high profile minister to another level when he took him on in Lok Sabha when the Opposition was demanding Jaitley’s resignation. Azad sought a SIT-monitored CBI probe into his allegations of corruption in DDCA between 2008 and 2013 and said “everyone knows who was the DDCA chief at that time.” Soon after his suspension, Azad made threatening noises saying “wait and watch my next move.” Azad has not yet been expelled from the party. “The issue I raised is old, havent teamed up with Congress or AAP. I worked honestly for the BJP but have been branded anti-party…. The one who worked honestly for the party is thrown out,” he said. When Azad met Shah and BJP general secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal, he was asked not to hold the press conference on the DDCA row as it would give ammunition to the Opposition. However, Azad went ahead. The BJP’s silence on Azad’s behaviour was threatening to spark off speculation on inner turmoil in the party. Party sources said taking action during the session would have given fuel to the Opposition. According to them, there was also pressure, particularly from the Bihar unit, to take some action against party MP Shatrughan Sinha who has been consistently tweeting against the party.

Women drivers and CNG-certified vehicles are likely to be given exemption from Delhi government’s ambitious odd-even scheme coming into force from January 1 in the national capital. During the 15-day trial, motorcycles and emergency vehicles including ambulance, PCR, fire tenders, will also not come under the ambit of road-rationing experiment.Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will announce the blue print of the odd-even scheme on Thursday which aims to prevent rising pollution in the city.”Women drivers will be exempted under the scheme but they will be penalised if any male member is travelling along. Women drivers travelling only with female members will also not be considered a violation,” sources said.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>They said that according to the plan, owners of CNG-fitted cars will need to show prescribed stickers. Violation of the odd-even rule will attract a penalty of Rs 2,000.”Vehicles from other states entering Delhi will also come under the ambit of odd-even scheme. Government has also given an exemption to bikes from its ambitious plan,” they also said.Earlier this month, Kejriwal had announced that he, his ministers and all government officials will follow odd-even scheme. To curb rising pollution level in the national capital, the Delhi government has decided to introduce odd-even scheme to be implemented starting from January 1. A trial of the scheme will run till January 15.According to the government’s plan, it will run 6,000 additional buses to accommodate numbers of passengers after the implementation of odd-even scheme. Nearly 10 lakh private cars will daily stay off Delhi roads once the odd-even formula is enforced with drastic reduction in traffic flow expected to significantly reduce the high-level of pollution in the city. There are over 19 lakh private four-wheelers registered in Delhi and nearly half of these will go off the roads with the implementation of AAP government’s ambitious odd-even formula.

Sisodia claimed that during the raid, enquiries were made by the probe agency’s officials about people who had visited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and each and every file kept in a CMO room was looked into in the “garb” of investigating Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar

Manish Sisodia

The CBI raids in the Delhi Secretariat was “purely” aimed at scrutinising files related to alleged irregularities in Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Tuesday during the special session of the Delhi Assembly.Sisodia claimed that during the raid, enquiries were made by the probe agency’s officials about people who had visited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and each and every file kept in a CMO room was looked into in the “garb” of investigating Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar. Incidentally, Kumar was seated in the visitors’ gallery of the Assembly during the proceedings.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>When her turn to speak came, AAP MLA Alka Lamba heaped praises on him, saying, “We are proud of an officer like you.” Amid protests by Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, Sisodia, flanked by Kejriwal, moved a resolution on the floor of the Assembly to constitute a Commission of Inquiry to probe the alleged corruption in DDCA. The Deputy Chief Minister said that internal committee of the Delhi Government, after talking to stakeholders, had prepared its report which “pointed fingers at Arun Jaitley”.The report of the government-constituted three-member committee “established Jaitley’s role” in the alleged DDCA irregularities, Sisodia said, adding, “There was massive corruption during Jaitley’s tenure and he tried to save those who committed those acts.” Following a CBI raid in Delhi Secretariat in connection with charges against Kumar, AAP has been claiming that the central agency carried out the searches to target the AAP chief and was looking for a file relating to alleged graft in DDCA.Since then, the party has been demanding resignation of Jaitley from the Union Cabinet. “The raid was purely to check what action plan was being prepared against corruption in DDCA. When we started raising the issue in the media, former cricketers raised their voice and spoke against the leaders of their own party,” Sisodia said referring to BJP MP Kirti Azad, a former cricketer.Reiterating allegations that are being made by AAP since last week’s raid, Sisodia claimed that the CBI had particularly raided the room where “files signed by the Chief Minister, and those to be signed” are kept. “I want to state this with full responsibility that there’s no office of Principal Secretary as such. It comes under the CM’s office. And there would anyway be no old files in CM’s office. It was a shameful incident,” he said.Sisodia claimed that government has the requisite power to constitute such a Commission of Inquiry to probe alleged corruption in DDCA “as sport falls in the state list”. The Kejriwal government had set up an inquiry committee to probe alleged irregularities in DDCA which had submitted its report.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded PM Narendra Modi’s resignation for the ‘fraudulent raid’ he carried out to save Jaitley. He said: “When I meet PM, I only tell him one thing-that we dont need money or land, just stop hampering our work. I’ll take PM’s projects like Swacch Bharat forward in Delhi, will give PM all the credit. But they should just stop troubling us. If the raid happened on my Principal Secretary, what was the need to come to my office? Today is the 8th day, for 6 days Rajendra Kumar was interrogated for hours. I want to ask PM, what did he discover? Nothing. If my job is to punish corrupt officers, then my job is also to protect honest officers.”<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged a protest outside the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday just before the House met for a special session. The Delhi Government had called the special session of assembly to discuss alleged irregularities in DDCA and the last week’s CBI raid at the Delhi Secretariat. Finance minister Arun Jaitley arrives at Patiala House court in New Delhi on Monday to file a defamation case against Kejriwal and other AAP leaders

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirti Azad, who has been raising the issue of corruption and irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Administration (DDCA), has once again targeted Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter on Monday night Kirti Azad tweeted, “I was visited at home by so many agencies to take precaution against threat to my life. Dear @arunjaitley darta nahin hoon napunsako se.”However, Azad later tweeted, claiming that his Twitter account was hacked and it was not his post. “My A/C is hacked. Statement on @arunjaitley as napunsak is not my tweet,” he said. I wish the case was against me because I am the one who raised this issue.”The political slugfest over DDCA affairs intensified on Monday after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley filed a criminal defamation complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other leaders of AAP for allegedly defaming him in the DDCA controversy before a Delhi court which took cognisance on his plea.Meanwhile, Congress has latched on to BJP MP Kirti Azad’s claim that the government had asked CBI in October this year to probe alleged financial irregularities in DDCA, to demand the immediate resignation of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The one member Commission of Enquiry will be headed by former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium.

Such efforts would prove to be counter-productive as they will damage AAP only, he said.”All allegations levelled against Jaitley are baseless and far from truth. This is a conspiracy to defame Jaitley. BJP stands united with him and will not allow any conspiracy to defame him succeed,” Shah said in a statement. He also said that what AAP is doing may end up being harmful to them. “If AAP thinks that what they are doing will cause harm to Arun ji’s image then they are day-dreaming. This is going to create a big trouble for AAP,” Shah said.Emphasising that Jaitley is an honest and committed leader, he said even opposition leaders also resist from levelling allegations against him.”Jaitley’s entire public life is like an open book and dedicated to the country and levelling such allegations against him are beyond any understanding as the SFIO had already ruled out his involvement in the day to day functioning of Delhi and District Cricket Association,” he said.Shah’s statement comes against the backdrop of the fierce attack by AAP and its government against Jaitley, seeking his resignation over alleged financial irregularities in DDCA during his 13-year tenure as its head between 1999-2013.Raising questions over the legality of the Commission and its jurisdiction, Shah wondered “how the DDCA functioning comes under the preview of this one-man Commission is a matter of legal debate”. He also termed as “diversionary tactics” AAP’s decision to set up the Commission as well as calling a special session of the Delhi assembly in this regard. The people of the country are aware of Jaitley’s high standards and principles in public life and transparency, he added.

CM will take a decision in a review meeting soon to be held on odd-even scheme. Once government gives its nod to proposal, it will be sent to Lt Governor for his approval,” a source said. They also said that government was also contemplating to give special powers to the traffic police, as it was delegated during Commonwealth Games 2010 to implement the odd-even formula so that cops can “strictly” prosecute drivers. To curb rising pollution level in the national capital, the AAP government has decided to introduce odd-even scheme to be implemented starting January 1. Government will install remote censor cameras on some roads to access traffic loads during this scheme.According to the government’s plan, it will run 6,000 additional buses to accommodate numbers of passengers after the implementation of odd-even scheme.

The video said that addresses furnished by the companies remained untraceable. Azad alleged that DDCA members inflated price of tenders, executive meetings were not held before passing bills. The DDCA came under scrutiny after Azad had raised the issue of financial irregularities within the association. Finance Minister Jaitley, who headed DDCA for 13 years till 2013, has been accused of corruption by the Delhi Government during his tenure. The state government has demanded that Jaitley must resign or be “removed” from the union cabinet to enable an independent probe. However, Gambhir and Sehwag came out strongly in support of Jaitley.”Grossly inappropriate 2 blame @arunjaitley ji 4 corruption in DDCA. Condemning the release of the juvenile involved in the December 16 gang rape case, the Congress on Sunday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) is doing shameful politics over the issue. “The DCW and Delhi government is doing politics in this matter. It is very shameful that the Chief Minister and DCW chief is doing politics over this,” Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit told ANI in Delhi. So it really shows the hypocrisy of the AAP government. DCW stand was late, even if the law is amended unfortunately this boy is released now,” she added. The Supreme Court has decided to hear the plea of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) against the release of the juvenile in the December 16 gang rape case on Monday, ruling out that there will be no stay on his release. DCW chief Swati Maliwal reached the Supreme Court last night after DCW decided to file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the apex court to stall the release of the convict. “I strongly feel that the Supreme Court has seen merit and that is why the Supreme Court was open at 2 o” clock in the night. This petition of Delhi Commission of Women against release of the juvenile and rapist in Nirbhaya”s case has been accepted, and it has been listed as item number three on Monday. I am hopeful because the kind of matter we have, the Supreme Court will take cognizance and will rule in our favour,” DCW chief Swati Maliwal told ANI.The convict, who is now 20 years old and was known to be the most brutal of the attackers, has been taken to an undisclosed location from a correction home in North Delhi amid concerns that there was a threat to his life. He is scheduled to be released today. Earlier, the parents of the gang rape victim, along students and activists were detained by the police as they staged a protest against the release of the juvenile convict. The police action was condemned by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In December 2012, the teenager was part of the six member gang that lured a 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist and her male friend onto a bus, where the girl was gruesomely raped and her companion brutally beaten. The girl subsequently succumbed to her injuries 13 days later in Singapore. The incident caused nationwide outrage and led to widespread outpouring of anger against the rapists, including the teenager.

After Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that ‘CBI has been asked to target all opposition parties and finish those who don’t fall in line’, CBI has responded that it strongly denies the allegations. In a statement, CBI has said that, “CBI strongly denies a statement appearing in certain sections of the media attributed to CM Delhi that ‘A CBI officer told me yesterday that CBI has been asked to target all opposition parties and finish those who do not fall in line’. This is a completely false, baseless and mischievous statement and emphatically denied.”<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The AAP chief once again chose the social media route to level the charges. He had virtually live-tweeted the CBI raid at his Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar’s office in the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.Kejriwal had said Jaitley’s assertion that AAP’s allegations against him are “unsubstantiated and non-specific” could not be treated as “gospel truth” as the charges against him were “very, very serious”.

DDCA row: AAP poses five questions to Arun Jaitley, calls him ‘master of half truth and beautiful lies’

Addressing a press conferencehere, Ashutosh accused DDCA of allowing private firm 21st Century to sub-lease 10 corporate boxes at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium and claimed the firm owned by a friend of Jaitley was extended financial benefit to the tune of over Rs 5 crore for the deal.

The AAP on Friday put ‘five specific’ questions to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley relating to its allegations of corruption in Delhi’s cricket body DDCA under his watch and accused him of giving “vague” response to the charges.Calling Jaitley a “master of half truth and beautiful lies”, AAP leader Ashutosh made certain fresh allegations against the Finance Minister and said his comments that there was no specific charges against him was “misleading”.Jaitley has strongly rejected the allegations calling them a propaganda technique of Kejriwal to deflect attention when he himself was in the “dock” following a CBI raid in Delhi Secretariat.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Addressing a press conferencehere, Ashutosh accused DDCA of allowing private firm 21st Century to sub-lease 10 corporate boxes at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium and claimed the firm owned by a friend of Jaitley was extended financial benefit to the tune of over Rs 5 crore for the deal. The AAP leader asked Jaitley to clarify who were members of the 21st Century and whether it had any of his kin.The AAP leader also accused Jaitley of putting pressure on ONGC to give an amount of Rs 5 crore to Hockey India and sought to know what was the reason behind it.Alleging huge financial bungling in reconstruction of the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, the AAP leader said although public sector entity EPIL was paid Rs 57 crore for the project the remaining Rs 57 crore out of the total expenditure of Rs 114 crore was distributed among nine companies.”The registered address, e-mail and directors of these companies were same. Did Jaitley know about these companies and is it not corruption,” asked the AAP leader. On Jaitley’s comments that the SFIO report had absolved him, Ashutosh said the Finance Minister hid the fact that punishment for offences mentioned by the central agency included imprisonment.”We had raised specific questions and Jaitley gave vague answers. That is why we are coming out with five specific questions for him,” AAP leader Sanjay Singh said. The AAP leaders also asked Jaitley to tell about his relationship with Hockey India chief Narendra Batra. They said Delhi Government last month had set up committee to probe irregularities in DDCA after getting a communication in this regard from Union Sports Ministry. They said Home Ministry had communicated to Sports Ministry about irregularities in DDCA following which it wrote to Delhi Government.Following a CBI raid in Delhi Secretariat in connection with charges against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar, AAP has been claiming that the Central agency carried out the searches to target the AAP chief and was looking for a file relating to graft in DDCA.Since then, the party has been demanding resignation of Jaitley from the Union Cabinet.

Kirti Azad to hold press conference on Sunday against ‘corruption’ in DDCA

His assertion came after BJP general secretary Ramlal called him earlier in the day for a meeting, apparently to persuade him against attacking Jaitley at a time when the party has rallied around him to fend off the opposition attack on him over alleged corruption in DDCA.

BJP on Thursday reached out to its MP Kirti Azad, a known detractor of Arun Jaitley, but an unfazed Azad said he will hold a press conference on Sunday against “corruption in DDCA”, an issued used by AAP and Congress to target the Finance Minister.”My fight is against corruption. I will continue with it,” Azad said. His assertion came after BJP general secretary Ramlal called him earlier in the day for a meeting, apparently to persuade him against attacking Jaitley at a time when the party has rallied around him to fend off the opposition attack on him over alleged corruption in DDCA.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Rejecting suggestions that the party leadership has “gagged” him, the Darbhanga MP tweeted “don’t go by rumours that I have been gagged. Azad has been a long critic of Jaitley’s stewardship of DDCA, alleging financial irregularities during his term.

Reacting to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s denial of allegations of irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said the former’s denial in the press cannot be taken as ‘gospel truth’.In a series of tweets, Kejriwal said that allegations against Jaitley were very serious, and therefore, he should either resign or be removed from his post to facilitate an independent probe.Earlier, Jaitley hit out at the Delhi Chief Minister accusing him of spreading ‘untruth’ against him, two days after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that Jaitley was involved in a scandal linked to DDCA of which he was earlier a president.”Free speech is unquestionably a pre-eminent fundamental right, but does free speech include the right to speak only falsehood? The Delhi Chief Minister, Mr Arvind Kejriwal, seems to believe in untruth and defamation, delivered in a language that borders on hysteria,” said Jaitley in a Facebook post.Jaitley also said the AAP convener is trying to divert attention and protecting his corrupt Principal Secretary by linking it to the Delhi Cricket body. Also read- AAP v/s Jaitley: Here’s what Arun Jaitley has to say about Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations”A few days ago, a Secretary of the Delhi Government was searched and arrested after being caught red handed for allegedly accepting a bribe. The CBI had conducted the operation. The Delhi Government welcomed the move. Four days later, another official close to the Chief Minister was searched for an alleged offence which related to the pre-Kejriwal period. The chief minister raised two pleas. First, that it violates the federal structure of the Constitution. In addition, the Chief Minister used unacceptable adjectives against the Prime Minister and, second, he questioned the purpose of the search and tried to divert attention by linking it to the Delhi Cricket body rather than alleged corruption of this official,” Jaitley wrote. “It is a part of propaganda technique to deflect attention when you yourselves are in the dock. Finding himself acting as a shield to cover an officer under investigation, the Delhi chief minister has attempted to focus attention on me. He repeats endlessly that I misled the Parliament on the Delhi raid and that he has a series of allegations to make against me in relation to my tenure as President of the DDCA – Delhi’s cricket body. The Congress transiently joined Mr. Kejriwal’s company for the reason that its own leaders are in the dock for more than one reason,” he wrote. The Finance Minister also said that no personal allegations were ever made against him with regard to cricket administration, but admitted that there were certain irregularities. “Even though I am not concerned with cricket administration since 2013, a Member of Parliament has been writing to various governmental bodies with regard to Delhi’s cricket affairs. The UPA Government seized upon the opportunity and referred the complaints to the SFIO which investigated all his complaints over a period of time and submitted a detailed Report on 21st March 2013. The Report concluded in relation to the DDCA being registered under the Companies Act, that:- “thus, in a nutshell, there are certain irregularities / non-compliance or technical violations, but no fraud (was) noticed as alleged,” he wrote. “These technical and procedural violations were all compoundable and were compounded by Members against whom they were alleged. The SFIO, under the UPA regime, investigated and could not find a shred of evidence against me. No personal allegation was ever made against me nor did I ever feel the need of contradicting it. There are fake allegations such as escalation of cost of construction of a stadium. When work expands, cost escalations are integral. A brand new 42,000 capacity world class stadium was constructed by the EPIL, a public sector body at a total cost of around Rs.114 crores. At the same time, the UPA Government renovated two stadiums. The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium was renovated at a cost of over Rs.900 crores and Dhyan Chand stadium was renovated at a cost of over Rs. 600 crores,” he added. “I have felt the need for stating the above in order to counter any unsubstantiated, non-specific allegations. I have left cricket administration in 2013. By referring to some facts of 2014 and 2015, he (Kejriwal) can’t drag me in,” Jaitley said.

Delhi HC dismisses CBI’s plea to probe into AAP’s funding

The plea, moved before the high court on February 4, had also sought CBI probe against Home Ministry officials, who in their report had earlier stated that donations made by eight foreign residents to AAP, were not in violation of the FCRA.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed a plea seeking CBI probe into past and present funding of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the alleged violation of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).”The petition is dismissed,” a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Rajiv Sahai Endlaw said, while passing order on the PIL alleging that AAP has been receiving foreign funds in violation of FCRA. The bench also said that the petitioner, advocate M L Sharma, approached the investigator and it is not that the agency has declined to entertain his complaint.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs had informed the bench that nothing was found against AAP in its probe regarding allegations that it had received offshore funds in violation of FCRA provisions, after which the court reserved its verdict on the plea. AAP had termed the allegations against it as “baseless” while contending that the party had not flouted any law in receiving foreign funds and got donations worth Rs 30 crore from Indian citizens only, of which about Rs 8.5 crore had come from NRIs.The plea, moved before the high court on February 4, had also sought CBI probe against Home Ministry officials, who in their report had earlier stated that donations made by eight foreign residents to AAP, were not in violation of the FCRA. Denying violation of foreign exchange or other laws, AAP had earlier contended that the PIL accusing it and its founding members of having illegally received foreign funding was “scandalous, frivolous, motivated and baseless”.AAP had claimed that it has “very small amount of funds and has the most transparent method of political funding among all parties”. The PIL had also alleged that “undisclosed funding to AAP was coming from terrorist groups” and that the party had succeeded in stalling Home Ministry probe against it and managed to get a favourable reply to mislead the court. It had alleged that it was a case of serious corruption on part of the ministry officials who filed an “un- investigated” report despite high court direction. The ministry in its report had said that eight people with foreign addresses made donations to AAP and “their passport numbers as mentioned in the contribution report of EC were checked and it was found that they possess Indian passports and NRIs holding Indian passports are not a foreign source”.

Jaitley’s role in DDCA like Suresh Kalmadi, not Manmohan Singh: Aam Aadmi Party

But now we get to understand that his role was of Suresh Kalmadi,’ AAP legislator Kapil Mishra told ANI. When asked to respond on the clean chit being given to Finance Minister Jaitley by the DDCA, Mishra said, ‘The scam has taken place in the DDCA, and the body itself is giving clean chit to Arun Jaitley. That is what we stating that the DDCA is along with Arun Jaitley and vice-versa.’ The DDCA had yesterday rejected the Congress Pary’s allegations of “gross financial irregularities” against incumbent Finance Minister and its former president Arun Jaitley, saying that such charges were ‘absolutely rubbish’. <!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>DDCA working president Chetan Chauhan told a press conference to rebut all allegations against the former president.’Some allegations have been raised against DDCA and it needs clarification as everyone is stating their point. First thing is allegation of irregularities on stadium construction. Stadium is made of Rs 141 crore. The reason for escalated costs was because capacity earlier was 26,000. But we demolished and then we renovated. It is recorded in ROC. It was given to EPIL, so I absolutely rubbish the charges,” he said.”I rubbish the allegations against ex president (Jaitley). I would like to thank Jaitley ji for taking care of renovation and making this a state-of-the-art stadium,” he added. Congress leader Ajay Maken, while talking to media, said there were “gross financial irregularities” in the DDCA which had been headed by Jaitley. Maken also alleged that there was “no hope of a fair probe till Jaitley was the finance minister” and demanded his resignation till the probe was completed. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier said that the CBI searched the office of his principal secretary with the intention of acquiring documents relating to an inquiry conducted into the alleged financial irregularities of the DDCA, the cricket association of which Jaitley was president from December 1999 to 2013.

Cricket is Arun Jaitley’s ‘private duty’, says Subramanian Swamy

Following a demand from the Congress for Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to resign for his alleged role in a scam involving the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said cricket is Jaitley’s private not public duty.

Following a demand from the Congress for Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to resign for his alleged role in a scam involving the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said cricket is Jaitley’s private not public duty.”It is a contempt of LS/RS for opposition to raise AJ’s DDCA alleged corruption in the two Houses since cricket is his private not public duty,” Swamy said in a tweet.Swamy further stressed on the fact that the issue is Jaitley’s personal matter and the party or the government has got nothing to do with it.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>”Cricket is a not a part of our party. The DDCA issue should not be diluted, and should not be marred into political controversy as grave irregularities have been committed.”Demanding Jaitley’s resignation, he said, “As long as Mr. Jaitley is the Finance Minister, and is the minister in-charge of corporate law affairs, how can you expect a fair trial to take place under his finance ministership?”Demanding his “resignation for a fair and impartial probe”, AAP Core Committee member Sanjay Singh told repoters: “Tomorrow (on Thursday), the AAP will divulge details of the DDCA irregularities, which will enable you to draw a complete picture of irregularities.”

Arvind Kejriwal says files on DDCA scrutinised, CBI refutes

Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia in fresh allegations accused the investigating agency of seizing documents which were not related to its probe against principal secretary Rajendra Kumar.

A day after the CBI raided the third floor of the Delhi secretariat housing the chief minister and his secretary’s office, the Delhi government claimed it has seized files containing “cabinet decisions” during its day-long raid. Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that a file relating to DDCA was scrutinised.Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia in fresh allegations accused the investigating agency of seizing documents which were not related to its probe against principal secretary Rajendra Kumar.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The chief minister also launched a fresh attack on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, saying he had “misled” Parliament by saying that the CBI did not raid the Chief Minister’s office.”CBI kept reading DDCA file in my office. They wud hv seized it. But after my media briefing, they left it. Not clear if they took a copy. Docs seized from my office. No relation to allegations being probed. Item 7-file movement register of last one month,” Kejriwal said in a series of tweets.Addressing a press conference, Sisodia said he wonders why the CBI had allegedly seized “file movement register of November-December” and three files of transport department. “What is the connection? CBI also scrutinized files of DDCA. They even planned to seize them but did not do so after Chief Minister raised the issue,” Sisodia said.Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh alleged that Jaitley lied on the floor of the House and this warrants a privilege motion against him and the government.”Since Jaitley has lied on the floor of the House and misled Parliament, this warrants privilege motion against him and the government.Earlier on Wednesday, the CBI officials said that they had “unearthed” bank balances of approx Rs 28 lakhs of Rajender Kumar. “Fixed deposits worth approx Rs 1.66 crore were also found at premises of co-accused A K Duggal former MD, ICSIL,” said Devpreet Singh, CBI spokesperson.”CBI seizures during the searches at 14 places, were in the presence of independent witnesses, as per procedure laid down by law. The search cum seizure memo containing details of all seized items will be produced before the competent court,” she added. CBI sources said that two other accused in the case were questioned by agency sleuths. The accused included A K Duggal and GK Nanda – both former directors of Intelligent Communication Systems India Ltd. (ICSIL) After verbal assault launched by various Aam Aadmi Party leaders, including Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia, the probe agency seemed to be in an aggressive mode in the evening. After claiming that CBI was acting at the behest of the Centre, AAP accused the agency of seizing documents not related to the probe against Kumar. AAP leaders also claimed that the money in bank accounts that the CBI had searched was Kumar’s life savings from his 27 years of service. “Blatant incorrect information is being spread by certain quarts since yesterday to discredit the agency with the intent to obstruct investigation. CBI categorically denies having seized any material during searches which are not relevant to the investigation,” the agency said in a statement. The agency also took a dig at the Delhi government by bringing up another Principal Secretary who arrested by the agency on charges of accepting bribes earlier this month. Following the arrest of IAS officer SP Singh, AAP held a conference stating that the complainant who informed CBI about the corrupt practices of Singh, was an AAP volunteer.Kejriwal had claimed the complainant approached CBI on the directions of AAP government. The agency today responded that no functionary of Delhi government ever contacted or was ever in touch with CBI. “The entire operation of laying the trap and arrest of SP Singh was conducted by the CBI on its own after receipt of complaint followed by independent verification.”

Aam Aadmi Party workers from Mumbai and neighbouring Thane district on Wednesday protested against the CBI raid at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office building in Delhi, calling it a “blatant misuse” of the agency by Centre. AAP workers gathered at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai and held a demonstration denouncing Tuesday’s raid, saying the action is akin to “unannounced emergency”.”It is clear now that (Finance Minister) Arun Jaitley misled Parliament saying that the CM’s (Kejriwal’s) office was not raided. However, it is seen today that the CM’s office was indeed raided, all files examined and many files taken away by CBI,” AAP national spokesperson Preeti Sharma Menon said.<!– Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Dismissing Jaitley’s claim, Kejriwal on Wednesday uploaded image of a document listing the files allegedly taken away by CBI from Delhi Secretariat. The CBI has denied that Kejriwal’s office, located in secretariat, was searched.”This is a complete murder of democracy and the Aam Aadmi Party feels it is imperative for all persons who value their freedom to protest against this unannounced emergency,” Menon said. CBI acted on senior bureaucrat Ashish Joshi’s complaint

Joshi had served as Member (Finance) at the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), and had held additional charge as member-secretary of the Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC). During his term, he had alleged that AAP volunteers had misbehaved with him.

The CBI on Tuesday, in a swift move, raided the third floor of the Delhi secretariat that houses chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and secretary Rajender Kumar’s office.Interestingly, the CBI acted on a private complaint that was filed by Indian Post and Telecommunication Finance Service (IP&TAFS) officer Ashish Joshi who had complained to the anti-corruption branch about Kumar.
