Odd-even scheme will fail, AAP looking for escape route, says BJP

She said infrastructure development and better traffic management were ways to deal with pollution and cited the highway project launched by the Centre on Thursday in this regard. The Centre, Lekhi said, had given an additional fund of Rs 1200 crore to the Delhi government for sewage treatment but nothing has been done so far. AAP has also done nothing on its promise of ‘swaraj’, she said, noting that adequate funds were not being given to local bodies. Instead the AAP government was using Delhi’s resources for political purposes, she said, referring to its publicity budget of Rs 526 crore.

China, India dealt with border differences properly: PLA

Both sides this year have focussed their dialogue on frequent “incursions” by the Chinese troops specially in the Ladakh sector, which caused tensions at the borders. Two of such incursions happened during the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to India in 2013 and President Xi Jinping in 2014. On both the occasions, the prolonged standoffs were resolved through hectic parlays at high levels.

Maharashtra: Sales tax on kidney-related medicines waived off

Close to 600 patients are registered with the ZTCC to receive a kidney. The number of patients waiting is up to 10 times more than those who end up receiving one.Dr Rajesh Kumar, nephorlogist at Dr LH Hiranandani hospital, said: “It is a good decision and will help end-stage kidney patients get good health care. Unlike other states, Maharashtra had VAT as well as Octroi. For buying a single dialysis, we spent Rs60-70,000 only on taxes. For a single filter which is used in the dialysis, we paid Rs100 on taxes.”

MoEF and WII to begin captive breeding of Great Indian Bustard

Annually, GIB lays one egg and two eggs on some rare occasions. But with proper nutrition, ideal location, temperatures, food and management they can produce more than two eggs per year. The ministry has envisaged that about 25-50 eggs of GIB will be collected from wild habitats over a period of five years. These eggs will be incubated, hatched and their chicks will be reared to achieve a breeding population target of 50-100.The union environment ministry has approved a budget of Rs.33.85 crore for the project. While Rs.81.7 lakh has been sanctioned for Rajasthan, Maharashtra will receive Rs.1.38 crore. Gujarat’s share of Rs.1.10 crore is still under process.

BMC has a New Year gift for Bhendi Bazaar

The year 2016 could probably herald a sea change in the fortunes of Bhendi Bazaar if everything goes as planned. Its much talked about Rs4,000-crore cluster redevelopment project has finally received the commencement certificate (CC) and works on the project are likely to commence soon.”We have received the CC for our sub-cluster development from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). We will rehabilitate the tenants in this sub-cluster, providing them a minimum of 350 sq.ft carpet area and 300 sq.ft of commercial space under redevelopment plan. As many as 4,500 units will be constructed as part of the project,” said Abbas Master, CEO of Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT).It’s the SBUT that has undertaken the 16.5-acre cluster redevelopment (33.9) plan, located in the heart of South Mumbai. It has already engaged the New York-based architect and designer firm, Perkins Eastman to work on the project. The sub-cluster area is around four acres, and around 700 tenants and 300 commercial establishments will have to be rehabilitated. “We will complete this sub-cluster works in three to 3.5 years, while the entire project will take 10 years. It is one of the biggest cluster redevelopment in the entire country. The Centre and Maharashtra are supporting this model project and are keen on replicating it in other parts of India,” Abbas Master said.He said the unique features about the project are its self-sustainable and eco-friendly aspects. “Each cluster will have its own sewerage treatment and power plant. There will be rainwater harvesting facility and solar panels to generate electricity. While there is no green cover at present, the redeveloped area will have 700 trees of various categories. Besides, it will have a 3.5-km-long shopping street. It will be of multiple levels where people will enjoy the shopping experience,” Abbas Master said.”The proposed roads will be 15 to 16 metres in width, and huge area will be earmarked for parking and recreation, with emphasis on greenery,” said Master adding, “Our primary agenda is to rehabilitate the people hit by the project.”Master said that the project will not only change the face of South Mumbai but also improve people’s living condition. “It will transform Bhendi Bazaar into a diverse sustainable community with a healthy neighbourhood, creating a vibrant urban area,” he said.Since the inception of the cluster development programme in 2009, a total of 46 projects were planned. But, as of now, only a couple of them are expected to become a reality, and Bhendi Bazaar could be the first.<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>

Delhi odd-even rule: Trial run to be conducted on Thursday

“Convince your parents, relatives and friends to follow the odd-even scheme. We are to do this not out of any imposition, but because it is important for our health and life. If you see anyone violating the odd-even scheme, just ask that person to go back home. If the same person receives 10 such remarks in a day, it would stir his conscience and persuade him to keep his car off the road,” Kejriwal said, addressing the students at Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya in north Delhi’s Civil Lines.

2015 Report Card: From Modi to Kejriwal, here are the big winners and losers of Indian politics

It’s a very hard to take a politician seriously, when you know that he uses the state’s police to search for his missing buffaloes. Known for his rather extreme views about various issues, Azam Khan cranked it to an insane level by trying to give a backhanded justification for Paris terror attack and also saying that he will raise the Dadri issue in United Nations. Over 40% faculty posts for OBC in higher education institutions lying vacant

The activists and academicians working for the rights of the reserved category candidates, however, feel that it is the lack of sincere effort and a conscious conspiracy by the institutions and the government that these posts are lying vacant. “It is hard to believe that 40 percent of seats are vacant. Non availability of a suitable candidate is a routine assessment by the government,” said Rajya Sabha MP D Raja.
Raja also alleged that it is the mindset of the establishments towards the reserved classes that these posts do not get filled up.Dalit activist Paul Divakar also blames the prevailing prejudices against the OBCs and other backward classes. “The institutions give a second class treatment to these candidates. Instead to make them suitable for the mainstream the institutions should bear the cost so that the OBCs can get adapted into the mainstream,” said Divakar of the National Campaign for Dalit Human Rights.BJP leader Udit Raj who also represents the community blames the premium institutions. “Instead of providing them a cushion so that they can compete with the mainstream, institutions adopt a discriminatory policy,” said Raj.
