Earlier on many occasions disgruntled leaders have accused the CPI(M) of lack in inner party democracy and a tendency of imposing decisions from the top.

2015 Report Card: From Modi to Kejriwal, here are the big winners and losers of Indian politics

It’s a very hard to take a politician seriously, when you know that he uses the state’s police to search for his missing buffaloes. Known for his rather extreme views about various issues, Azam Khan cranked it to an insane level by trying to give a backhanded justification for Paris terror attack and also saying that he will raise the Dadri issue in United Nations. BJP rubbishes Mamata Banerjee govt’s claims on West Bengal’s growth

Buttressing his point that Bengal’s 10.48 per cent growth in 2014-15 was due to its low base, he said a poor state like Bihar had grown by 17 per cent for the same reason. The state government’s claim about starting of projects worth over Rs 91,000 crore was also “misleading”, he said, noting that work worth over Rs 70,000 crore pertained to the Centre. He also hit out at the Congress government in Assam for registration of a criminal case against BJP workers over their protests at its office. He alleged that that it took no action against its leaders involved in targeting BJP leaders and the party office. “It is a case of double standards,” he said.

There are various things we need to remember when we are reporting cases of sexual assault, the most important one being that there are absolutely no mitigating circumstances that will ever justify rape. In case media houses need help on how to report, here’s a Feminism in India guideline on How to Implement Gender Ethical Journalism

Intolerance Debate 2015: Who is under the radar?

Sundar Pichai, the Indian-American CEO of Google, before his visit to India wrote an essay titled ‘Let’s not let fear defeat our values’. Though he was referring to Donald Trump’s comments on Muslim, he made his stand for tolerance clear, “And it’s not just about opportunity. The open-mindedness, tolerance, and acceptance of new Americans is one of the country’s greatest strengths and most defining characteristics. And that is no coincidence — America, after all, was and is a country of immigrants. That is why it’s so disheartening to see the intolerant discourse playing out in the news these days — statements that our country would be a better place without the voices, ideas and the contributions of certain groups of people, based solely on where they come from, or their religion.”

Over 40% faculty posts for OBC in higher education institutions lying vacant

The activists and academicians working for the rights of the reserved category candidates, however, feel that it is the lack of sincere effort and a conscious conspiracy by the institutions and the government that these posts are lying vacant. “It is hard to believe that 40 percent of seats are vacant. Non availability of a suitable candidate is a routine assessment by the government,” said Rajya Sabha MP D Raja.
Raja also alleged that it is the mindset of the establishments towards the reserved classes that these posts do not get filled up.Dalit activist Paul Divakar also blames the prevailing prejudices against the OBCs and other backward classes. “The institutions give a second class treatment to these candidates. Instead to make them suitable for the mainstream the institutions should bear the cost so that the OBCs can get adapted into the mainstream,” said Divakar of the National Campaign for Dalit Human Rights.BJP leader Udit Raj who also represents the community blames the premium institutions. “Instead of providing them a cushion so that they can compete with the mainstream, institutions adopt a discriminatory policy,” said Raj.

Before that, the Shiv Sena, BJP’s ally at the Centre had demanded a date for the temple’s construction. An editorial in Saamana said: “Building Lord Ram’s temple is a national work. We want a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. But our Lord Ram, like an outcast, has to live in a tent-like mandir. Those in power should be ashamed of this situation of Lord Ram’s temple. Those who have come to power and are holding important posts with the blessings of Ram, should ensure that his exile period ends.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Congress leader PL Punia said that the meagre amount that was being distributed as compensation to the already suffering farmers in the drought-hit Bundelkhand region was an insult to them.”The compensation that is being provided in the drought-hit Bundelkhand region is an insult to the farmers. What kind of compensation is being provided by giving cheques of Rs.75 and Rs.100? The farmers should receive sufficient and adequate compensation, either from the state or from the central government, Punia told ANI.On Monday, the Banda District administration distributed cheques ranging from Rs.23 to Rs.100 as compensation to the farmers. The farmers went to the office of the District Magistrate and expressed their anger, shouting slogans for the dismissal of the former. The farmers also said that the amount that would be spent to encash the cheques would be more than the compensation that was given to them.

Grimmer details of Dadri lynching emerge, meat found from Mohamad Akhlaq’s home was goat’s

However police refused to comment whether or not Shivam had actually retrieved any mutton from the drain. While filing a charge sheet in Dadri lynching case, police had ruled out conspiracy angle into the murder. The move can prove it difficult for the victim’s counsel or prosecution to establish murder charges (302) against any specific person or persons as the chargesheet has not invoked conspiracy charges. It is yet to be confirmed whether or not any meat was recovered by the accused at all as it could put light on whether the entire incident was a pre-planned conspiracy.
